Chamberlain South Dakota 2009
Well we made the long haul to Chamberlain, arriving early enough to visit a sponsor at Charly's Restaurant.
We had High hopes for this race site as a few of the tougher boats to beat wern't going and our chances looked pretty good. What we didn't know was about an engine issue we had developed during the last test run before leaving home. We couldn't get the engine to run at full power long enough to get on plane and the power would just drop off. We tried several ideas, but all weekend long we got the same result.
With Scott's coaching we were able to direct Mike around long enough to get a legal start in one heat, but our dream weekend vanished. The issue ended up being rust in the injectors caused by our run tank at home.
The engine was packed up and sent to Ed Trihey's place north of Seattle and then back to us for the next race, the following weekend, in Polson Montana.
