Phoenix Firebird 2010 Web Album
After a long off season, we made it to Phoenix.
We didn't know how the boat was going to act with all the repairs we did, especially with the tight turns on this course. The boat came alive!! The first thing we noticed was she gets up on plane so much easier. We wern't sure if what we saw at spring training was a fluke, or reality. Yep, she gets right up there. No more Plowing water.
Kevin had drawn lane 1 in the first heat, which was not our first choice, we got called for bearing out in turn 1 and got a penalty. Other than that we ran hard and fast, winning two heats and the one third place. We ended the weekend being declared the winner after the race was called due to 50kt winds on Sunday afternoon. I don't know when the last time was that this hull won a event, I'm guessing 1989 maybe?
If any of you Canadian Fans of the Miss Executif III know. I'd sure like to know too.
This race season is being dedicated to a dear friend of mine, the Tri-Cities Race committee, and several others in the Hydro Community. Tracy Osterhout, was a good man. He owned a boat called the WyKnot and WyKnot racing. Tracy passed unexpectedly in April. He will be missed by many.
