Silverdale 2009
For Silverdale Washington, we teamed up with Bob Schellhase and renumbered his UL-12 to the UL-11 and ran as the Power Punch Racing Team / Roxy Radio 94.5 FM / K & N Filters.
Bob's boat hadn't been in the water this season doing final preparations and paint. His team scrambled this past week to make sure it was ready.
At the last minute we found out Mark Evans was not going to be able to drive due to family commitments, so Bob recruited Brian Perkins to be our driver for the weekend. Brian had not drove a UL all season, but of course, he has been driving an Unlimited. With this mix we had the opportunity for Brian to unseat his sister, Kayleigh, from her 5 win streak this season.
We missed a heat early on due to some technical difficulties, but the heat was black flagged and re-ran with only two boats in it. We won that heat, and later came in second behind the UL-72.
On Sunday we ran the final with Brian outside of Kayleigh and the UL-11 accellerated, passing her, just past the Start Finish line. It was head to head racing for the first lap, then Brian was able to out pace Kayleigh and ultimatly winning with a roostertail length advantage.
It was a first win for the Power Punch Racing Team, and also a first win for Bob's new team!
Several of these pictures were taken by Julie Sparrowgrove. Thanks Julie!!
